Sarah Clarke

Graduate Research Associate, MES Program
The Evergreen State College

Passionate about science education for underserved audiences, Sarah supported the Sustainability in Prisons Project in two important ways. With strong experience in environmental education and the restoration of local prairie and salmon habitat, she coordinated our monthly lecture series at the Washington Corrections Center for Women. Exploring the ties between personal and environmental health – from nutrition and purchasing habits to pharmaceutical dependency – the series ran from fall 2009 to spring 2010. Sarah also helped evaluate all of our educational programs and science projects in several prisons, working closely with Dr. Nadkarni and the consulting firm David Heil and Associates. Born in eastern Pennsylvania, she earned her bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Bennington College in Vermont and a Master of Environmental Studies at Evergreen in fall 2010.
