Originally from Nairobi, Kenya, Laureen is an international student who has been fortunate to embark on an enriching academic journey at Cottey College, an independent liberal arts and sciences women’s college in Nevada, Missouri. She began her college career majoring in International Relations, but a transformative experience in an Intro to Environmental Studies elective reignited her passion for sustainability and the environment, leading her to add a second major in Environmental Studies.
After graduating with a double degree in Environmental Studies and International Relations, she made her way to Washington, where she fell in love with the breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture of the Pacific Northwest. She was excited to be accepted into the Master of Environmental Studies program at Evergreen State College, where she is fortunate to be working with impactful projects like the Sustainability in Prisons Project exploring innovative approaches to environmental stewardship and education.
In her free time, she enjoys exploring new places and spending quality moments with friends, always eager to discover the beauty and diversity of her surroundings.
