Allison Campbell

SPP Prairie Conservation Nursery Coordinator
Master of Environmental Studies Program, The Evergreen State College

Allison grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she spent her youth hiking and backpacking in the Great Smoky Mountains and Appalachian Trail. She earned her B.S. degree close to home, studying vocal performance at Middle Tennessee State University.

Allison was eager to travel, so she spent the next phase of her life in Asia. She spent three years teaching English in South Korea and Taiwan, and also sang jazz in a Taiwanese jazz band. She still carried with her a love of nature, and her experience teaching English evoked an interest in organic farming and environmental education. She studied permaculture on a rural farm in northern Thailand and volunteered at several farms in Taiwan.

Back in the United States, she taught outdoor science and gardening to youth with Education Outside and managed a garden education program at the Garden at AT&T Park, both in San Francisco. She trained in Montessori early childhood education and created an environmental education program at a Montessori school in Oakland.

Most recently, Allison moved to Olympia to pursue a Master of Environmental Studies at Evergreen. At SPP, Allison is excited to contribute her experience in environmental education and fulfill her passion for social and environmental justice.

At SPP, Allison is excited to contribute her experience in environmental education and to find new ways to connect people to nature.
