Partner Profile: Paula Andrew
Administrative Assistant & SPP Program Liaison
Washington Corrections Center for Women
2014 marked Paula Andrew’s 12th year with the Department of Corrections. She started her career with DOC as a cook at Monroe and was then promoted to Food Manager at Yakima in 2006. After budget cuts reduced her workload, she decided to return to the west side of the state in 2012, and take a position as an Administrative Assistant at the Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW) in Gig Harbor. She fell in love with the administrative side of the prison, especially the operations division, where she gets to see firsthand what happens in the daily lives of inmates.
Paula is our liaison for SPP programs at WCCW. She says that the more she gets involved with SPP’s people and programs, the more she can see the win-win-win for WDOC staff, SPP staff, and the inmates. She is particularly proud of WCCW’s sustainability programs throughout the facility, and loves being a part of the effort.
Paula is a wonderful part of SPP. You can see her excitement for the work the moment you meet her. “Being connected with the good work of SPP has opened my eyes to sustainable practices we can do as a facility AND what I can do at home and in my community. Look for great things to come out of WCCW because of the connection with SPP!!”
