The Evergreen State College
Joey Burgess was born and raised in the Bay Area in California. His interest in environmental stewardship began at a young age during Boy Scouts, hiking, and camping trips. Joey earned his undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Since then, he has gained an international perspective through living and working in Thailand, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. He is motivated to improve conditions for marginalized populations.
Joey is pursuing a Master of Environmental Studies degree at The Evergreen State College where he hopes to expand his knowledge of global climate systems, organizational systems, and advocating for environmental awareness. He is excited about contributing to the Conservation Nursery at Stafford Creek Corrections Center where he can offer his adaptable teaching style and ecological knowledge to the program. Joey is most excited to create opportunities for personal growth and career development for individuals inside the prison.
